Last Man Out (LMO) Switch | Radiation Therapy Room Safety Device
The Last Man Out (LMO) Switch is a microcontroller-based beam interlock and room-clearance safety device for radiation therapy facilities.
It performs two critical functions: verifying full room evacuation before beam activation, and immediately cutting off the radiation beam if the treatment room door is opened during an active session. Compatible with linear accelerators, cobalt-60 units, HDR brachytherapy systems, and all other radiation-emitting therapy devices. Designed and manufactured by Meditronix Corporation in compliance with AERB radiation safety requirements.
Key Features:
- Instantly terminates the radiation beam on door open during live treatment
- Pre-beam room clearance verification via dedicated Run button engagement
- 30-second audio-visual alarm before beam activation for safe room exit
- Onboard LED indicators: Power On, Door Open/Closed status, and Flash alert
- Illuminated Run button confirms system is armed and ready
- Microcontroller-based architecture for precise, reliable switching
- Compact, wall-mountable metal enclosure with a clean, minimal operator panel
- Direct hardware interlock, independent of treatment machine software
- Simple installation into existing door interlock circuits
- Modern, minimalist panel design built to complement any radiation therapy control console setup
