Catphan 605 CT Phantom
The Catphan 605 is a compact, cost-effective CT phantom for measuring the maximum performance of multi-slice and other state-of-the-art CT scanners. It uses two modules within a 20 cm housing to cover slice geometry, sensitometry, MTF, low-contrast detectability, and uniformity. Its enhanced capability for thin slices and high-resolution imaging suits modern multi-slice systems.
Key Features:
- Two modules in a compact 20 cm housing for a focused, efficient QA suite
- Slice geometry ramps with both wire and bead options for slice width measurement
- Enhanced precision for thin slices and high-resolution scanners
- MTF measurement using wire or bead point sources
- Volume-averaged sphere contrast targets for low-contrast evaluation
- Solid-cast uniformity module for spatial uniformity and noise testing
- Sensitometry targets for CT number linearity, including bone-equivalent materials
- Solid-cast construction with no water filling, draining, or water-source variability
- Smári cloud-based analysis included for automated evaluation and trend tracking
Test Capabilities:
- Sensitometry (CT number linearity)
- Slice geometry, slice sensitivity profile, and slice width with wire and bead ramps
- Pixel (matrix) size and circular symmetry
- Phantom position verification and patient alignment system check
- Scan incrementation
- MTF using wire or bead point sources
- Contrast targets using volume-averaged spheres
- Spatial uniformity and noise (precision)
Applications:
- Routine CT quality assurance on multi-slice scanners
- Acceptance testing and commissioning
- Traveling physicist and multi-site CT evaluations
- Scanner performance trending and multi-scanner comparison
- Budget-conscious QA programs requiring a focused test suite
